Back to Blogging
Returning to blogging, after such a long time from not doing it, really feels like coming home. Let me back up a minute and explain.
I've blogged on and off for years and as such I have had more iterations of this blog than I really want to admit. There were times when I had really good periods of writing consistent content. And then I've had gaps where I didn't write anything for months. Looking back, I can rationalize and explain a myriad of valid reasons why I didn't keep up with my blogging. But at the end of the day those reasons are just really excuses, and as such, here I sit again, on the dawn of a new beginning. Hoping that this time around my actual creation of content keeps up with my ambition.
There is, however, more than just hope. This time around I have a newfound since of motivation and obligation. Equipped with all the lessons learned along my blogging journey, I'm working to set myself up for more success, with the idea that I will be able to expand the community I have created on YouTube. Yes, you read that correctly. Part of my absence from the blog scene was because I've spent the last two years learning how to be a "YouTuber" (yes, that's a thing.) My YouTube journey is still one that is ongoing, but I love it just as much now as I did the day I started.
From blogging to vlogging, back to blogging
Believe it or not, It was actually vlogging that brought me back to blogging. I felt a large creative restlessness and anxiety at that time in my life. Disenchanted with blogging and graphic design, I was eager to take on a new challenge. Learning how to tell stories through video and then optimize that video to get viewers was just the new endeavor I needed to get my creative juices flowing.
Writing, however, will always be my first love. But like all loves it needs to be nurtured. I know that creating content consistently will help me practice my skills-- grammar, construction, punctuation, flow. I want to build a catalog of work that will forever remain a part of my creative legacy. All of this while sharing about my life, my perspectives, my experiences.
Creating + sharing = what I think can be one of the best parts of our common humanity.
So if you've been a long-time reader of my blog and you've wondered where I've been, now you know. Thank you for continuing to support me. And if you are new to the blog, welcome. I'd love to connect with you in comments.
